Ruth is available as a consultant in literacy at all key stages. She advocates an exciting child-centred approach which fits with current curriculum aims and enables all learners to achieve.
Ruth worked as Literacy Advisor to an SEN secondary school for 3 years, working with teachers and heads of department across the curriculum to create a joined up, exciting and relevant approach to literacy that fitted with the needs of the students. She also developed an intervention phonics programme for the school to enable older SEN students to access literacy at both an age and stage appropriate level.
Ruth ran a successful English department in a challenging London secondary school and has also trained and mentored NQTs, Teach First teachers, HLTAs and teaching assistants in both SEN and mainstream, teaching settings. She has delivered a range of successful training to teachers, TAs and parents alike and is an excellent communicator at all levels.
Ruth combines her Masters in Education, with a degree in English language and literature and extensive knowledge and experience in drama, both as a performer and teacher, to create a rounded an exciting approach to literacy in the classroom. Ruth is also a published author of flash fiction and is currently developing teaching resources with ZigZag education.
